Overseer ("the App") provides an AI agent that designs and builds pages for your online store using your products ("the Service") to merchants who use Shopify to power their stores. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.
Personal Information the App Collects
When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account:
- Products — product details, prices, variants and images, to build pages with your products and to import products you add.
- Themes, pages, navigation menus and files — to create pages and draft themes in your store, and to publish them when you choose.
- Product publishing — to show or hide products on your online store.
- Metaobjects — to store the product reviews your customers submit on your storefront.
- Orders and customers — to confirm that a review comes from a customer who bought the product, and to measure sales in storefront analytics.
- Customer events and web pixels — to run storefront analytics, if you turn it on.
Additionally, we collect the following types of personal information from you and/or your customers once you have installed the App:
- Information about you and others who may access the App on behalf of your store, such as your name and email address.
- Information your customers give when they submit a product review: their name, email address, rating and review, and optionally their location and photos.
- If you turn on storefront analytics, information about individuals who visit your store: the pages and products they view, items they add to the cart and checkouts they start or complete, their IP address, browser language and screen size, a random identifier stored on their device, and their Shopify customer ID if they are signed in. If you also turn on session recording, how they interact with your store's pages, with anything they type hidden.
We collect personal information directly from the relevant individual, through your Shopify account, or using the following technologies:
- "Cookies" are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.
- "Log files" track actions occurring on the App, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- "Web beacons," "tags," and "pixels" are electronic files used to record information about how you browse your store. The App's web pixel runs only if you turn on storefront analytics.
- "Local storage" keeps the random identifier the web pixel uses in the visitor's browser.
How Do We Use Your Personal Information?
We use the personal information we collect from you and your customers in order to provide the Service and to operate the App. Additionally, we use this personal information to communicate with you, and to optimize or improve the App.
Sharing Your Personal Information
We share personal information with the service providers that host the App and store its data on our behalf: Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Product reviews are stored in your Shopify store.
Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Your Rights
If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.
Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you, or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to the United States.
Data Retention
We keep the information the App collects while the App is installed on your store. When you uninstall the App, Shopify notifies us after 48 hours and we then delete the store data the App holds. Product reviews stay in your Shopify store under your control. Log files are kept for 30 days. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
